Unfortunately, politics is not necessarily altruistic, regardless of the political side one takes. In fact, politics negates the fact that we are community-loving creatures. We want to get along by nature. The point is that we all have trouble putting ourselves in someone else's shoes. I think Jeff points out that there may be hidden reasons why immigrants come to the US.

Well said. I think everyone of us is guilty for speaking (or at least thinking) the immigrants to our country(ies) are a drain on our resources and economy.

By providing healthcare, education, housing assistance, food security, and family services, Americans will be less susceptible to scapegoatism."
