The past 2 weeks my husband and I have driven from chagrin falls Ohio to San Diego - for our son’s wedding. We have witnessed first hand the dramatic economic disparity ( the poverty within the reservations vs the dripping wealth of golf club elites ), the undeniable climate effects ( fire and smoke kept us from hiking and breathing in multiple locations in Utah and Co)- extreme heat nationwide- AND the gorgeous landscape AND the gorgeous people AND a renewed felt sense of home in this paradox
I don't believe our country was created to level the economic divide between people, but to create the freedom to choose our lot in life. The Revolution was not about equity among the populus though there are those who are trying to head that way now. Life, liberty, and the PURSUIT of happiness was the call. There are no guarantees in life. Each person should have unto himself the ability and opportunity to decide his own destiny. Values, character, resolve, and resilience will determine one's life not a king, tyrant, or equal economic status.
Thanks for a great analogy of the need for shared effort to protect what we hold dear
